The Puyallup Food Bank partnered with the South Hill Mall to host a Candy Buffet. Local and nationwide retailers donated high quality candy to be sold in gift boxes for Valentine’s day. All proceeds of the candy sales went directly to the Puyallup Food Bank.

The Puyallup Food Bank is a non-profit organization that offers food and household items to their neighbors in the Puyallup area. Their goal is to provide a minimum of 12 meals per person in each household they serve.

On February 8th, our South Hill Branch had the opportunity volunteer at the Puyallup Food Bank’s Candy Buffet fundraiser. The Puyallup Food Bank partners with the South Hill Mall to host their Candy Buffet throughout the year. These fundraisers allow the food bank to pay overhead costs and purchase food and household items for their organization.

High quality candy is donated to the food bank, allowing them to sell the gourmet candy at a fantastic discount. This gives the public an opportunity to save money on their purchase and help their community all at once.

For Valentine’s Day, two different sized candy boxes were available to buy. Customers could buy a smaller box for $15 or a larger box for $20. The candy was displayed on a round table, giving customers an opportunity to pick and choose from a wide selection to fill their boxes.

As a result of the donated candy, free venue, and fantastic volunteers, 100% of the proceeds went directly to benefit the food bank. Each $20 donation created 96 meals for families in the area!

This was a great event to educate the community on the Puyallup Food Bank and Kitsap Credit Union. We had the chance to speak to many shoppers and spread the word about the fund raiser and KCU. The community was very receptive and excited to have the chance to help our community. We look forward to the next opportunity to help!
